The Homing Missile is a standard Missile weapon in nearly all missions. The Homing Missile, when launched, seeks out the nearest target. Two missiles are fired at once, with a high rate of fire and accuracy.

R-Type[]

The Homing Missile was introduced in the first title, however but still to use missile power up in Game Boy Version are not included.

R-Type II / Super R-Type[]

The Homing Missile is obtained by picking up the red Missile power-up. The Homing Missile and the Scatter Bomb (blue power-up) are mutually exclusive.

R-Type Leo[]

Instead of two missiles speeding forward, the Homing Missiles in R-Type Leo drop away above and below the R-9Leo Leo, quickly accelerating forward to impact only when there is target directly in front.

R-Type III: The Third Lightning[]

The Homing Missile in this mission is called the Electron Missile and takes the form of optical projectiles, but is functionally the same.

R-Type Delta[]

The Homing Missile is exclusively used by the R-9aII Delta.

The Enhanced Homing Missile is exclusively used by the POW Armor. This missile can pierce lightly-armor targets and packs a strong punch.

R-Type Final / R-Type Final 2[]

The Final series puts out several variants of this weapon.
